Belmonte back Down Under for the Tenpin Premier League

Famous for his two-handed style of delivering shots, Jason Belmonte is a true Australian icon in the world of Tenpin Bowling.

Concluding an incredible international season, which saw him win five PBA titles, it is safe to say Belmonte is a strike ahead of the competition.

“The 2022 season was one of the strongest seasons of my career. Winning five titles in a single season, shooting 300 on live television and increasing my major championship record to 14 is mind-bending to me,” Belmonte commented.

“This season will most likely earn me a record equalling seventh Player of the Year title which is the cherry on top.

“It’s motivated me to continue to work even harder to keep reaching beyond the goals I ever thought I could reach,” he said.

Just because the international bowling season has come to an end, Belmonte has no plans on stopping. After time abroad, Belmonte has returned to his home soil to compete in the Tenpin Premier League (TPL) and Tenpin Bowling World Cup on the Sunshine Coast.

“I miss bowling in Australia. Bowling the Devils Lair event in Hobart was so incredibly thrilling for me, even more so to win! There is no place like home and rolling strikes here gives me the most joy on the lanes,” Belmonte said.

After having some time off since the completion of the PBA tour season, Belmonte is ready to bowl back into action.

“I’ve had some time off since completing the PBA tour season and Devils Lair event in Hobart,” Belmonte said.

“This time off has recharged the batteries and I’m really excited to hit the practice lanes again. I want to be as sharp as possible for both the TPL and the Bowling World Cup.,” he said.

The TPL tournament will be Belmonte’s first competition back in Australia, with a new broadcasting format that gives anyone the opportunity to watch live.

“Anytime we can showcase the talent we have here in Australia to a wider audience I think is important. The TPL has a great opportunity to bring to the forefront many of Australia’s bowling stars and I couldn’t be more excited for us all and the sport.”

Belmonte will be playing against some of Australia’s diverse and best bowlers. Going into this tournament he won’t be holding back, trying to put pressure on his opponents the best he can.

“I think I’ll be attacking this format as I do any other format I bowl. The focus will be solely on me and my game, making the best shots every frame possible to put as much scoreboard pressure on my opponents as possible.”

With the next couple months to be filled with some amazing bowling, fans both in person and tuning into the broadcast can expect some exciting matches filled with high energy and close games.

“I would imagine some high scores and really close matches. I wouldn’t be surprised if many if not most of the matches are determined by the final frame! Should be a lot of fun to watch.” Belmonte added.
